Hannah Recommends:Dystopians.

I know, I know. Dystopians are very passé but I do have a soft spot for some. When done right, dystopians do have the potential to be amazing. So without further ado, here are five of my favourite dystopians.

  1. Unwind Dystology by Neal Shusterman

Goodreads

Unwind takes place in this world in this world where parents are able to chose to have their children wound which basically means being harvested for organs. While I haven’t read the fourth book yet,the first three are horrifically creepy with amazing characters and thought provoking plot lines.

2.The Chaos Walking Trilogy by Patrick Ness

Goodreads

Todd lives in a world where  there are only men and where everyone can hear each others thoughts. But one day he meets a girl whose thoughts he can’t hear. This is another series where I haven’t read the last one, but the first two are so amazing. The plot is so intricate, and the characters are so well developed. There are a lot of parallels to our world, and it’s just really well constructed.

3.The House of The Scorpion by Nancy Farmer.

Goodreads

This book tells the story of a boy named Matt who is the clone of a drug lord named El Patron. Throughout the book, Matt  struggles to find his place in  a world where clones are seen as vermin. Yet another book that is so thought provoking. It raises so many questions about what it means to be human. There is a sequel but this can be read on its own, though the sequel is pretty good

4. Angelfall Series by Susan Ee

Goodreads

Angelfall is set in a post-appocolyptic  world where angels ave descended to  destroy the earth.  It follows Penryn who is trying to get her sister back from the angels who captured her.I haven’t gotten around to reading the third book yet, but the first too are amazing. Penryn is such a kickass character, the storyline is fascinating, and plus the love interest is pretty awesome. It’s really worth the read.

5. Across The Universe by Beth Revis

Goodreads

I don’t know if this would be classified as dystopian since it’s more sci-fi than anything, but it is set in the future so I’m going to go with it.Basically Across The Universe is about this ship where humans have been cryogenically frozen  for a very long period of time in preparation for this voyage to a new planet. The problem is that one of the girls  wakes up long before they’re set to land.  With awesome romance, mysteries and secrets, this series will keep you on the edge of your feet until the very end.

So what are some of your favourite dystopians?Let me know in the comments!
