So today I have a post that’s kind of different but one that’s very exciting! Klara over at ribbonreviews has started this really cool fantasy susbcription box that is meant for Europeans. It’s called Magic Chest. Klara contacted me recently and asked me if I could do an interview with her on my blog to talk about her subscription box,so without further ado here she is explaining a little bit about this really cool box.
1.What is Magic Chest?
Magic Chest is a monthly subscription service which sends monthly boxes which include a fantasy book and other items which help you explore a new world.
2.What can a subscriber expect from each box?
Each box will contain one hand-picked fantasy book and 3-5 items. Food or drink, cards and maps, bookish items and magical surprises.
3.What have been prior books that you have chosen for the box?
The first box is being sent out, but here’s a mock example of what one would expect in the box.
4.How do you choose the book and the products in your box?
First I read lots of fantasy books which will be released in the upcoming months. If a book was extremely good and stayed with me long after I finished reading, I will pick it for the box and choose the other products so that they’ll fit the overall theme of the book.
5.Where did the idea for it come from?
It first started, actually, when I read a few posts from European bloggers. Some of us live in remote places and can’t access all the new releases, especially in English. I just love book boxes and have been subscribing to quite a few boxes. But as I live in Germany, there was no possibility of getting a book box from my area, simply because such things don’t exist here. So the whole idea was to give people from Europe the opportunity to get English books of their favourite genre along with other cool bookish items from thei region. With less shipping time and lower shipping costs.
- Why is your box different from other ones.
Magic Chest wants to bring more adventures in our daily lives. That’s why every box containes a new world to explore and the things you need to do so. It’s all about the journey through unknown parts of our imagination.
7.Do you read the book you chose prior to putting it in?
I read every book before putting it in the box and I chose the books I read myself as well.
- Do you have any type of fantasy that you lean towards?
Personally, I like high fantasy but also the kind of fantasy that intertwines with YA. For the boxes, I only select books where I know lots of people will have fun reading it. So there won’t be 5k pages books, or something dipping in the craziest corners of fantasy. But they shouldn’t expect high fantasy only either.
Currently it’s only for Europeans, but if you really want this box you’re more than welcome to email her at firstname.lastname@example.org and she’ll try to work something out. For more information about this box along with pricing and stuff like that check out the website
