1.Best Book You’ve Read So Far This Year?
Station Eleven by Emily St John Mandel. I haven’t stopped thinking about this book since I read it. It’s truly amazing and beautiful and I highly recommend it. It’s best to go into reading it not knowing much because any of your expectations will be blown out of the water.
2.Best Sequel You’ve Read So Far This Year?
So I finally finished The Chaos Walking Trilogy and oh my god!!!!! It was so emotional and beautiful and Patrick Ness is truly a genius. I am still in shock. I came close to tears so many times and it was just so amazing and beautiful. Definitely my favorite series.
3. New Release You Haven’t Read Yet but Want To?
Let’s Talk About Love sounds so amazing oh my god!! A biromantic ace black love interest? There’s a 100% chance that I will love it and I just can’t wait to get my hands on this beauty.
4.Most Anticipated Release For The Second Half of The Year?
My two favorite authors are coming out with books this fall- 2018 is truly the best year. I’ve been waiting for Bridge of Clay ever since I read The Book Thief six years ago and I can’t believe that I’m finally going to get it in my hands. As for Jodi Picoult’s book- I will devour anything that she writes so I can’t wait to see what she has in store for us.
5. Biggest Disappointment?
I really thought that I’d love this book but it was super meh. There was some great elements like the diversity but the intensity that I thought would accompany a book about a school shooting was sadly missing.
Though I love The Chaos Walking series, it took me awhile to finally get to More Than This. I don’t know but something about the summary hadn’t really drawn me but my god I was blown away!!! This is one of those books where you should go away knowing nothing because it’s just something you need to read.
7.Favorite New Author( Debut or New To You)?
So this year I read both The Girl With The Red Balloon and The Spy With The Red Balloon and I loved both of them so much. I love reading about Jewish characters and in Spy they were Jewish and queer which is just so important to me!!! I can’t wait to read everything she comes out.
8. Newest Fictional Crush?
I don’t really get crushes on fictional characters. Pass!
9.Newest Favorite Character?
Matteo and Rufus!!! They’re precious cinnamon rolls and i love them so much!!!
10.Book That Made You Cry?
Even though I’m the most emotional person ever, I don’t really cry when reading books. But Leah on The Offbeat had me in actual tears!! Might be because I read it from like 10 pm to Midnight so it might have been me being tired but there were so many scenes that made so emotional. It was such a good book!!!
11. Book That Made You Happy?
This book was so fun and gay and wonderful and it was the perfect summer read- I loved it so much!!
12. Prettiest Book You’ve Bought or Received This Year.
Any book with Nick Robison’s face on it is a pretty book!!! I love my Love, Simon tie in edition so much.
13. What Books Do you Need To Read By The End of The Year.
I’ve been dying to read The Hate U Give ever since it came out last year but I’ve just never gotten around to it. I have a hold at the library so I really can’t wait to read it!! Plus the movie is coming out soon, so I need to read it so I can watch it.
