Birthday Book Haul

So it’s my birthday today!! (Yay!) and I got some pretty cool books from my mom and dad so this is a post just talking about the books I got. Some of these books were steals  so I’m gong to rant about them because they were so cheap??

1.Swimming in The Moon by Pamela Schoenewaldt

This was like 2$ at chapters and plus it was blurbed by the author of The Orphan Train so I just had to buy it. It’s a historical fiction novel about immigrants which I love so this should be good.

2.The Coldest Girl in Coldtown by Holly Black

I’ve heard so many people talk about this and I mean I don’t really like vampires but I’ve always wanted to try a Holly Black novel.I love the cover, and plus it looks pretty interesting.

3.The Sun is Also A Star by Nicola Yoon

I’m sooo excited to read this! Two PoC characters falling in love??sign me up. Plus the cover is amazingly beautiful

4.The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson.

I got this a chapters for 6$ and I’m screaming because it’s a hardcover+plus it’s a 2016 release. If you’re canadian, and want this book, try your local chapters, you might find the same deal if you look at the Bargain Books section. I’m so excited for this book, I love Morgan Matson

5.The Raven king by Maggie Stiefvater

I’m really excited to finally be able to finish the Raven Cycle and see how it ends. I’ve been avoiding spoilers since April so it better be worth it.

6.The Girl From Everywhere by Heidi Heilig

I am so excited to read this, I follow Heidi on twitter and she’s awesome, and this book sounds amazing and diverse and just really amazing. It’s time travel and that’s all I need to know. I’m hoping it’s going to be amazing.

7.Miss Carter’s War by Sheila Hancock

So this is like a historical fiction post world war 2  in England and I honestly don’t know much about it but like  the synopsis talks about the fight for gay rights so I’m there.

8. Mutiny on The Bound by John Boyne

So considering I gave The Boy in The Striped Pajamas a one star I have no idea why I bought this but like it was 1$, it looks interesting and it’s important to give some authors second chances, right?

So that’s my birthday book haul! Have You read any of these books? What did you think of them? If you want to do a buddyread for any of these books, let me know, that would be really fun!

December Book Haul

So December happened to be a month that I got a lot of books, I didn’t buy any of these books:7 were from publishers Simon and Schuster  Canada and Raincoast one was from my dad and I won on book in a giveaway. Also it’s not pictured but I got one book from my mom.

1.The Cruelty by Scott Bergstorm

So I actually didn’t realize this when I requested it from the publisher but this is the book that had some controversy surrounding it awhile back. The author was like bashing YA or something like that, and making it seem like his book was a 100x better than anyone else’s.  So I’m going to read the book, but I don’t know if I’ll like it.

2.The Other F-Word by Natasha Friend

I already read this book and it’s really good! Here’s my review if you’re interested review

3. Factory Girl by Josanne La Valley

This sounds really good! If i’m not mistaken, it’s about a girl in China who works in a factory? Idk I might be wrong, but I’m excited to read it.

4.The Beast is An Animal by Peternelle Van Arsdale

So from what I’ve gathered from the synopsis, I think it’s about souleaters and the girl who tries to stop them? I’m not exactly sure but it sounds interesting. A little out of my comfort zone, but still I’m excited to read it.

5. Promises to Keep by Gennieve Graham

This is about Acadia during the war in like 1755 between the french and the english. It’s Canadian, which is awesome so I’m really excited to read this.

6.The Education of Margot Sanchez.

This is an awesome read about a Puerto Rican girl who has to work at her father’s grocery store for the summer Review

7. The Shadow Sister by Lucinda Riley

I love Lucinda Riley,so I’m really excited to read it. The only problem is that it’s part of a series and I wonder if I can read the third book without having read the other two

8.A Torch Against The Night by Sabaah Tahir

This series is A+ and just really great. She’s such a great writer, and  has a great setting and world building.

9. Alexander Hamilton:A Biography by Ron Chernow

I’m kind of scared to read this, but I really want to read it this year. It sounds really good!!!
